Reiki Level 1

Reiki Level 1 (Shoden)

A return to traditional foundations

Reiki Level 1, or Shoden, is the beginning of a relationship — not a technique learned in a single day.

In this training, Reiki is approached as it was originally taught: as a self-healing discipline, cultivated through regular practice, sensitivity, and embodied understanding.

Rather than compressing this work into a one-day certification, this offering honours the slower, deeper path through initiation, practice, and integration.

What this training is

Reiki Level 1 is focused entirely on self-healing. This is a period of learning how to:

  • enter a receptive, non-forcing state

  • sense and respond to energy through the hands

  • work with Byōsen (energetic sensation)

  • develop daily self-Reiki as a lived practice

  • build a grounded, personal relationship with Reiki energy

There is no practising on others at this level.

Training structure

Part One — Initiation & Foundations

This full-day gathering includes:

  • traditional context of Usui Reiki

  • Reiki as a practice, not a modality

  • entering stillness and receptivity

  • hands as sensing instruments, not tools

  • flexible self-treatment approach

  • introduction to Byōsen on the self

  • Reiki attunement

  • clear guidance for ongoing self-practice

Students leave with:

  • a grounded understanding of Reiki

  • a simple, realistic self-practice framework

  • support for integrating Reiki into daily life

Certification is not issued on this day.

.

Integration Period - Self Practice: Approx. 3 months

Following the training day, students enter an integration phase where Reiki is practiced regularly on oneself.

This time allows:

  • the body to learn through experience

  • sensitivity to develop naturally

  • questions to arise from lived practice

  • Reiki to settle into daily life rather than remain conceptual

No monitoring, assessments, or performance expectations — just sincere practice.

Part Two — Integration Circle & Certification

After the integration period, students are invited back for a group gathering.

This includes:

  • reflection and shared insight

  • refinement of sensing and presence

  • clarification of questions that arise through practice

  • grounding the long-term relationship with Reiki

At this point, students who have engaged with the practice receive their Reiki Level 1 (Shoden) certificate, acknowledging completion of training and integration.

This training may be right for you if you:

  • feel called to Reiki as a practice or discipline, not a quick qualification

  • value depth, embodiment, and integrity

  • are interested in self-healing and self-cultivation

  • prefer learning that unfolds over time

  • wish to study Reiki in a way closer to its original roots

Certification
Certification acknowledges:

  • completion of Reiki Shoden training

  • initiation and integration of self-healing practice

  • an established relationship with Reiki energy

  • It does not certify clinical skill or practitioner status.

Pathway forward

Completion of Reiki Level 1 is a prerequisite for Reiki Level 2. Students who complete Shoden through this model enter Level 2 with:

  • stronger sensitivity

  • clearer discernment

  • deeper confidence

  • a more ethical and embodied foundation

Returning to Reiki — For Past Students

Past Reiki students of mine are invited to re-sit Level 1 at half price.

This is not a refresher or fast-track. It is an invitation to return to Reiki as a lived discipline - one that deepens through consistency, sensitivity, and integration.

There is no pressure to progress or collect levels. Certificates are offered after a period of practice, reflecting Reiki as something embodied rather than completed in a day.

If you trained with me previously and feel called to return, you are welcome to reach out.

Sometimes the most meaningful step forward is a conscious return.
