Reiki Level 2, or Okuden, means “inner teachings.”
Where Shoden establishes the foundation of self-healing, Okuden refines sensitivity, deepens discernment, and introduces the traditional symbols gradually through practice and integration.
This training returns to a slower, more traditional approach.
Rather than learning all symbols in a single weekend, Okuden unfolds across three separate training days, each followed by a period of lived practice.
This honours Reiki as a discipline — not a collection of techniques.
Reiki Level 2 is a continuation of self-cultivation.
It is a period of learning how to:
work with one symbol at a time
deepen sensitivity to energetic quality and intention
strengthen mental clarity and presence
refine Byōsen awareness
extend practice beyond physical touch
mature your relationship with Reiki energy
Each symbol is introduced individually and integrated fully before moving to the next.
This is not fast-track training.
It is structured depth.
This full-day gathering includes:
review and refinement of Shoden foundations
introduction to the first symbol
traditional context and meaning
correct form and method of drawing
Reiju (attunement) for the first symbol
meditation and practice using the symbol
clear guidance for two months of home practice
Students leave with:
one symbol only
a structured daily practice plan
clarity on how to integrate the symbol into self-Reiki
No certificate is issued at this stage.
During this time, students practice regularly with the first symbol.
This allows:
familiarity to develop through repetition
sensitivity to refine naturally
lived understanding rather than intellectual grasping
confidence to emerge steadily
Reiki matures through experience.
Held approximately two months later.
This gathering includes:
reflection on lived practice
refinement of sensing and discernment
introduction to the second symbol
Reiju (attunement) for the second symbol
meditation and structured practice
guidance for continued integration
Students now work with two symbols — slowly, deliberately.
No certificate is issued at this stage.
Students continue daily practice, now working with both symbols.
This period allows:
clearer mental focus
deeper emotional awareness
increased steadiness of presence
refinement of intention
Again, there is no monitoring or assessment.
Only sincere practice.
Held approximately two months after Part Two.
This gathering includes:
review and clarification
introduction to the third symbol
Reiju (attunement)
traditional distant practice methods
ethical grounding for non-local work
integration of all three symbols
At this stage, students who have engaged with the full process receive their Reiki Level 2 (Okuden) certification.
Certification acknowledges:
completion of the three-part Okuden training
integration of each symbol through lived practice
deepened energetic sensitivity
ethical and embodied understanding
Students are able to receive insurance if practicing on others.
value depth over speed
prefer integrating one symbol at a time
are committed to daily practice
wish to study Reiki in a way closer to its original roots
feel ready to deepen beyond Shoden
Completion of Reiki Level 2 through this model prepares students for deeper responsibility and refinement.
Students who move through Okuden in this way develop:
stronger energetic discernment
steadier presence
greater clarity of intention
a more mature relationship with Reiki
There is no rush to progress.
Each level unfolds when it is lived.
