Reiki Session Explained

It’s perfectly normal to feel nervous if you have not experienced a Reiki treatment before. Read on to find out more before your appointment.

Here is what typically happens during a Reiki session:

  1. Introductions: The session will begin with introductions, where the practitioner and recipient will get to know each other a bit and discuss any goals or concerns the recipient may have for the session.

  2. Preparation: The recipient will then typically be asked to lie down comfortably on a massage table, fully clothed. The practitioner may also offer a blanket or pillow to help the recipient feel comfortable.

  3. Energy Transfer: The practitioner will then begin the energy transfer by placing their hands on or near the recipient's body, starting at the head and working down towards the feet. The practitioner will use various hand positions and techniques to channel the healing energy, with the intention of promoting relaxation and balance.

  4. Sensations: The recipient may feel sensations such as warmth, tingling, or a sense of relaxation during the session. In my personal experience, I have had clients fall asleep, cry and some even laugh. Some see lights, almost like aurora borealis, others have seen animals or passed loved ones. However, experiences can vary greatly from person to person.

  5. Closing: Once the session is complete, the practitioner will typically give the recipient a few moments to relax and come back to their senses. They may also offer some closing remarks or advice for the recipient to continue their healing journey.

The session typically lasts around 60 to 90 minutes, though the length can vary depending on the practitioner and the recipient's needs. Many people find Reiki to be deeply relaxing and rejuvenating, and it is often used as a complementary therapy to support overall wellness.

Reiki is not meant to replace medical treatment. It's important to note that individual experiences with Reiki can vary, and it may not be effective for everyone. It's always a good idea to consult with a healthcare provider before trying any new wellness practice.
